Martha Jane Rankin

Martha Jane Rankin of Big Spring, Texas, died March 4 at a hospital in
Lubbock. She was 78 and had previously resided in Avon.

Born April 23, 1926, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Earl and
Nina Woolman. She married David L. Rankin on June 6, 1948, in North
Vernon. He survives.

Mrs. Rankin graduated from Ball State University. She worked six years as a
music teacher for six years and then was a homemaker.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church; Daughters of the American
Revolution, in which she served as a regent several times; and the International
Travel Study Club in Avon. She was involved in and delivered Meals on Wheels
for 25 years. She was interested in genealogy.

Additional survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Jonathan L. and Terry
Rankin of Plantersville and Andrew D. and Amanda Rankin of Big Spring; three
grandsons; and three nephews.

Preceding her in death was a sister, Dorothy Anne Blackwood.

Services are 11 a.m. March 10 at Conkle Funeral Home in Avon. Graveside
services are 2 p.m. March 10 at Vernon Cemetery. Calling is one hour prior to
services at the funeral home.

Dorothy Ann "Dot" Simonds
Passed away January 20, 2005

Dorothy Ann "Dot" Simonds, 66, of St. Petersburg, died on
Thursday, (January 20, 2005), at Bayfront Medical Center.

Born in Scituate, RI, she came to St. Petersburg in 1989 from
Plainfield, CT.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed raising birds, sewing,
cooking, ceramics and raised twentyone foster children.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, William H.; six sons,
Mike Simonds, Gulfport, James Peare, Ocala, Mark Simonds
and Mark Snelling, both of Killingly, Hale Simonds, Santee, CA,
Ray Clark, St. Petersburg; three daughters, Bonnie Clark, St.
Petersburg, Cathy Bissell, Danielson, Tammy Grundwalski,
Plainfield; a brother, Donald Hall, New Orleans, LA; a sister,
Joan Raymond, North Kingston, RI; twentyone grandchildren,
and three great grandchildren.
